Dear Professor FAN,

It is a great pleasure to hear the news that you become the president of
Huangzhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). On behalf of the
HUST Alumni Association in North America (HUAAN) and our alumni, I warmly
congratulate you!

HUST went through great changes in the past year under Professor ZHOU Ji's
leadership, merging with Tongji Medical University and Wuhan Urban
Construction Institute. This move brought in HUST the much needed medical
sciences and enhanced many existing programs in architecture, and positioned
HUST on solid ground for future developments. The challenge now is how to
integrate medical science programs and engineering programs. Neuroscience
has long been considered pivotal in the development of science in the new
millennium. Among other things, I highly recommend you and HUST establish
a computational neuroscience program and strengthen other existing
interdisciplinary programs, to utilize HUST's strength in both engineering
and biomedical sciences.

As an alumni association, we serve as a bridge between alumni and the alma
matar. We wish this link will be strengthened under President Fan's term
and would like to hear more exciting news from HUST.

With President Fan's talent, experiences and wisdom, we have every reason to
believe that HUST will prosper under your leadership. We wish HUST a bright
future.
