Chinese Association of Professionals in Science and Technology (CAPST) will hold her annual convention this coming Saturday.
It is a well organized professional organization. Yongjun Chen, Yi Zhang, Peng Jing, Jiahua Yang, Peiheng Zhu, I, and many other alumni are the members of CAPST. If you would like to join, I will be more than glad to be one of your reference.
How to join: The easiest way now is to attend the annual convention. Please see the following message from Yong Jun Chen, he is one of the board members of CAPST. Should you plan to attend, send a message to Yongjun asap since we need to try to have a precise number for the hotel.

Dear CAPST Member,
Our annual convention will be held in the evening of October 29, 2005 (Saturday), in Houston Marriott West Loop, at 1750 West Loop S, Houston, TX 77027. For details of the schedule, see below.
Please send an email to inform Yongjun Chen (yongjun . chen @ sbcglobal . net) if you will come to the convention, including the number of people in your family who will come with you.
This is our 13th annual convention. Whether you have been with CAPST for years or you are a newly registered CAPST member, this annual meeting is a great opportunity for us to meet each other to elect our new board of directors, to discuss the future of CAPST, to meet more friends with similar interests, and to enjoy the fun in the entertainment program.
This is a formal convention, thus formal business attire is recommended.
Even though the hotel charges about $33 for each person, each CAPST member participated will only need to pay $15 for the dinner. A non-CAPST member will be asked to pay $30. The CAPST board is working hard on fund-raising to cover the difference. As the new year starts, you need to renew the membership for one year on site ($15 for individual membership, $20 for family membership).
Another benefit a CAPST member may receive at the convention is the first-time-designed CAPST polo shirt. It is made out of top-of-the-line material and with embroidered CAPST logo and name in both Chinese and English. The maker of the shirt charges $23, but you can get it for $20 apiece.
Parking is free of charge. When you enter the parking garage, you still need to pick the slip with timestamp. When you leave the parking lot after the annual convention, you will give the cashier a parking coupon, which will be given to you when you register, to cover the parking fee.
The schedule is:
5:15 - 6:00 Registration, photo exhibition, exchange between members and the board of directors
6:00 - 6:45 Election of the new board of directors
6:45 - Meet guests invited by the board
7:00 - Continue the annual convention (speeches by invited guests, banquet, keynote speech, president's report, awards to outstanding members, speech by new president.)
9:20 - Entertainment program

1. The hotel is at the North of San Felipe, facing 610.
2. The time of arrival is 5:10 for members. Election starts at 6:00 sharp.
3. The cost of banquet is $15 for members, $30 for non-members.
4. The cost for CAPST polo shirt is $20 for members.
5. Membership due $15 for individual membership and $20 for family membership.
6. Formal business attire.
7. Parking is free.
